Biography

Katia was born in Eastern Europe, an only child. She was something of a prodigy in school, excelling in engineering, math, and physics, and thus was a shoo-in for the Terran Military Academy. Once there, she met Sanshiro, Kevin, and Tomas; a year later, Sana joined their group of friends and Katia and Sanshiro entered into a relationship. Katia continued to do extremely well in her studies over the next three years.

The night before final exams were to start, however, Katia’s life was turned upside down by a surprise attack on the academy by a mysterious enemy. The faculty sleeping quarters were destroyed, and Katia and her friends had no choice but to combat this strange new foe using the training mechs kept at the compound. The five were lured out into the desert during the battle and shot down one by one, despite their dogged determination to continue. Katia was the last to fall, leaving only Sanshiro remaining—unbeknownst to him, however, her mech had actually been taken to a top-secret bunker out in the middle of the desert, where she discovered that the attack on the academy was the final exam; not only were the other three students alive and unharmed, but they’d all passed with flying colors, and she was there to greet Sanshiro when he broke into the bunker in an attempt to rescue his friends.

Five years later, she was made captain of the White Wings, a battlecruiser responsible for patrolling near-Earth space to defend the planet from any threats to its safety, alongside her friends from the Academy (including perpetual boyfriend Sanshiro).

Personality

Katia was incredibly intelligent and sensible, but she also had a tendency to be impatient, and at times had a bit of a short fuse. This was especially apparent when dealing with Sanshiro, whom she could be incredibly overbearing and even bossy toward, but she really did care for him deeply and nagged at him because she was concerned about his lax attitude and faltering grades. She was somewhat of the den mother of her group, acting matronly toward the other four students and doing her best to keep the peace between them.

Family

Katia thought of her four friends as her surrogate family, but she also had parents back home whom she communicated with often.

Abilities

Katia specialized in engineering and tactics, and was more than capable of captaining a ship; however, she was also quite proficient in mech piloting.

Design Notes

Katia’s design came about rather suddenly; when I was designing the team I knew there had to be a short-tempered girlfriend to set against the happy-go-lucky leader guy, and there she was.
